In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto is by Michael Pollan who poses his most salient question: where is the food in our food?
Examining the question of what to eat from the perspective of health, pollen presents a hodge podge of information on what is in the food we eat. There are some highly dramatic and “scare” moments which are a little silly. I recommend reading it for some of the “fun facts” of things, versus correct information about health.
You can buy In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto for $13.75.

In Why We Suck: A Feel Good Guide to Staying Fat, Loud, Lazy and Stupid, Dr. Denis Leary uses his common sense, and his biting and hilarious take on the world, to attack the politically correct, the hypocritical, the obese, the thin–basically everyone who takes themselves too seriously. He does so with the extra oomph of a doctorate bestowed upon him by his alma mater Emerson College. How sweet is that? Can I get a degree like that?

How you look at yourself and the world is actually important. Can we make beauty into an elitism practice?
